Should I Refinance my Car Loan?

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mary_Wise]Mary Wise There are mainly two condition why one would be willing to refinance a car loan: a) If one wants to steer clear of repossession and cant afford the loans monthly payments. b) If one wants to take advantage of better market conditions and wants to lower the monthly payments by refinancing with a lower interest rate. For both of these situations, car loan refinance seems to be the most comprehensive solution. However, refinancing wont always be advantageous and you might even spend thousands more due to an adverse financial transaction. When Refinance is the only way to go If you cant afford the monthly payments you might want to refinance your car loan in order to reduce the loan installments. A reduction can be obtained either by a reduction of the interest rate or by an extension on the loans length. You can also combine these two factors and get a more significant reduction. Chances are however, that if you need to refinance, you probably have a bad credit score and poor credit history. This will prevent you from getting a low interest rate and youll probably have to agree to a higher interest rate. Thus, your only possibility of getting a reduction on the amount of the monthly payments is by extending the loans length. Do your research and find the best offer available. There are many lenders out there and even if you have to agree to a higher interest rate, it doesnt have to be the highest. So ask for loan quotes, compare what the lenders have to offer and choose the best deal so as to spend as little as possible. Refinancing to save money on interests If you just want to take advantage of better market conditions and you dont need to reduce your monthly payments due to an inability to repay the loan, you are in better conditions to negotiate enhanced loan terms. Find a lender willing to offer you a lower interest rate and extend or shorten you repayment schedule according to your needs. Make sure the amount you save from the reduction on the interest rate is not secretly added to your loan in the form of administrative fees, closing fees, application fees, or any other euphemistic expression. Otherwise, you wont be saving any money and the refinance loan might end up being a useless financial transaction. Refinancing a car loan is an overall simple financial operation but you need to be careful and pay special attention to the interest rate charged and any other costs and fees hidden in the small print. Either if you are forced to refinance or if you want to seize the benefits of better market conditions, doing your research, comparing and then deciding is the smart way to go. Ideas for Travel Destination Favors and Wedding Gift Bags

By Raymond Miller You want your destination wedding to be a memorable and enjoyable occasion. One way to ensure your guests get the most out of their hotel stay for your wedding weekend is to give them a wedding gift bag or out-of-town bag, also called “OOT” bags, filled with goodies and neat treats upon their arrival at the hotel rooms. Wedding gift bags can be filled with anything from bottled water and snacks to miniature bottles of champagne and a set of plastic toasting glasses with a few fine chocolates and a scented candle. A small travel sewing kit is a winner every time. You will not believe how many of your guests will thank you for this wonderful and practical gift. It is not uncommon for guests to comment on how their sewing kit saved the day when they used it to sew on a button that popped off from a suit or dress just before your wedding. Another idea is to research the local customs and favorite cuisines around the area of your destination wedding. Local travel pamphlets about area attractions are free in most areas. Simply contact the chamber of commerce for the area where your wedding will take place. Your travel agent is also a great resource for finding small favors to add to your wedding gift bags. An 8″ x 5″ x 10″ paper or poly gift bag is the most common size used as gift bags. Ask the hotel host or hostess to place one of these bags on the vanity or night stand of each hotel room, welcoming your guests to your city or an exotic island or location. You may also want to make arrangements for your gift bags to be handed out by the host or hostess as your guests check in to the hotel. You will probably want to assemble your guest welcome bags and box them up before you leave for your destination. This will make it easy to transport and deliver to your hotel. In some cases, you may want to wait until you have arrived at your wedding location so you can purchase local goodies to add to your bags. Another option is to check with your hotel to see if they have staff available to set up the gift bags for you. Your wedding guests will be delighted to find the treasures that await them when they check in to their hotel rooms. Add a personal message by having your wedding gift bags custom printed with a personal message from the bride and groom saying ‘Welcome to Our Wedding Weekend’ or ‘Thank You for Joining Us’ along with the bride and grooms names and wedding date. No matter what you decide to give as destination wedding favors, your guests will appreciate this token of your gratitude for their participation on your most special day. Bids to Ban Vanity Liposuctions

By Charlene Nuble Recent developments in medical technology have led to alarming increases in the number of people under the age of 18 going for various operations like plastic surgery, liposuction, skin collagen implants, and other similar procedures simply for the sake of cosmetic changes. The incidences are usually sparked by mass media, where insecure teenagers undergo cosmetic surgery to try and alter their appearance to look as close as they possibly can to a media personality that they idolize, usually a movie or music idol. Even lacking the desire to fully emulate their idols, peer pressure and the need to Look Good has caused increasing numbers of teenagers to go into liposuction for fat reduction and plastic surgery. The government has begun to recognize the health problems that might potentially arise from this trend, as well as the potential social ramifications down the line. On one note, health specialists have already recognized that there are inherent risks to getting drastic liposuction for rapid fat removal. One of these risks involves the system shock that a person’s body suffers from the sudden absence of fat. Another is the dermal surgery that usually accompanies a liposuction to remove the folds of skin that usually result from a liposuction. Both of these health hazards are potential problems even in the best of times, which is why liposuction was originally used as a means of fat removal for people who had few other options available to remove levels of body fat which were approaching toxicity. To use liposuction purely for cosmetic purposes negates the original intention of it’s designers, and while advances in technology have made it much safer than it’s original design, the risks still remain, though in smaller percentages. Taking that risk purely for the sake of altering one’s physical appearance shows the level of shallowness and lack of discipline that is quickly becoming a problem in today’s youth. On that note, the social ramifications for the government’s bid against liposuction for teenagers has to do with the effect on the mindset of the youth in general. Even without endorsing it, something as simple as tolerating what is potentially a life threatening procedure to simply cater to a teenager’s vanity is an act that will have far reaching impacts on society. The resulting mindset in the youth will be that physical appearance matters more than substance, intelligence, and personality. Also, another effect on their mindset will be one that focuses on getting changes Quick and Easy. While weight loss can be achieved through proper diet, exercise, and enough personal discipline, liposuction offers an empty promise of fast and easy weight loss with no effort involved. This will tend to erode the value of personal discipline, training, and effort. Because of these issues, the government is clamping down on liposuction for teenagers. Congress currently has bills in consideration that will deal with the issues and restrict liposuction to responsible adults of legal age who can and will be held completely responsible for their own actions. Minors still wishing to undergo treatment will be required to have the consent of their parent or guardian. Furthermore, taking into account the existence of unscrupulous underground clinics that will offer liposuction to anyone who will pay them, the government is also issuing stricter legal penalties for these miscreants to stem the possibility that teenagers will simply visit these shadow clinics once they become barred from the legitimate clinics. —————————————- Note: This article may be freely reproduced as long as the AUTHOR’S resource box at the bottom of this article is included and and all links must be Active/Linkable with no syntax changes. —————————————– Charlene J. Choosing The Most Delicious Chocolate Wedding Favors

By Shaunta Pleasant When it comes to choosing wedding favors, it is hard to beat the appeal of good old chocolate. After all, it is the rare person who does not love this sweet treat, and who wouldnt enjoy a basket, vase or champagne flute filled with luscious rich chocolates. == Chocolate Wedding Favors Can Vary In Prices == In addition to its wide appeal, chocolate wedding favors can also be among the least expensive. Of course, the actual cost of these sorts of wedding favors can vary widely according to what type of chocolate you use and what you choose to put it in. Obviously a crystal vase full of top quality Belgian chocolates will be more costly than a plastic champagne flute filled with less expensive domestic chocolate candy. == Tailor Your Favors To Match The Style Of Your Wedding == This is actually one of the things that make chocolate treats as popular as wedding favors. These chocolate wedding favors can be tailored to match the style and elegance level of each wedding celebration. For instance, the aforementioned crystal vase full of Belgian chocolates may be perfect for the fancy wedding at the best country club in town, where those domestic chocolates may be perfect for a less elegant affair. == Make The Favors Yourself == Another popular aspect of chocolate as a wedding favor is that it is easy to buy the materials and assemble the wedding favors on your own. Unlike many other types of wedding favors, which must be purchased pre-made at great expense, it is easy enough to buy baskets, vases or glasses and enough chocolates to fill them. Then its just a simple matter of filling the glasses, wrapping them in cellophane and decorating them with lace, ribbon, dried flowers or anything else that strikes your fancy. == Coming Up With Other Ideas == If you need additional inspiration for using chocolate as a wedding favor, help may be as close as your computer or local newsstand. The internet is a great source of information on all kinds of party favors, including some spectacular presentations in chocolate. Just check out your favorite wedding related web sites or newsgroups and surf to your hearts content. And in the offline world, there are a number of magazines and books solely devoted to all aspects of wedding planning, including plenty of advice on choosing the perfect chocolate wedding favors, and presenting them in the most attractive manner possible. Weight-Loss Drug Approved Despite Cancer Concerns

By Naweko San-Joyz The Food and Drug administration has a plan to fight obesity. According to the FDA, this strategy includes revising FDA guidance for developing drugs to treat obesity. That could be part of the reason why in early February the FDA approved orlistat capsules as an over-the-counter (OTC) weight loss drug. The FDA first approved prescription strength orlistat back in 1999. Orlistat induces weight loss by decreasing the intestinal absorption of fat. OTC orlistat is less potent than the prescription version. Now GlaxoSmithKline will manufacture OTC orlistat under the name Alli. The Alli is indicated for adult use in combination with a reduced-calorie, low-fat diet, and exercise program. But not everyone is excited to see Alli hit the market. Public Citizen cancer concerns According to the Federal Registrar, Public Citizen asked the FDA to remove Xenical (a trademarked version of orlistat) from the market because of studies that suggested it caused an increase in aberrant crypt foci. Aberrant crypt foci are microscopic lesions considered precursors to colon cancer. The group cited seven studies that linked investigational orlistat to the development of aberrant crypt foci. Colon Scientific Advisory Board review To address the concerns raised by the citizen petition, GlaxoSmithKline formed an independent Colon Scientific Advisory Board comprised of experts in the fields of cancer research, gastroenterology, toxicology and obesity. GlaxoSmithKline paid the panel to examine the validity of the link between colon cancer and orlistat. After reviewing pertinent information for two days, the panel members agreed that the evidence does not prove that orlistat increases the risk of colon cancer in humans. The FDA echoed the panels findings as it responded to Public Citizen’s letter the same day the agency approved OTC orlistat. The FDA explained that a review of available data of the drug’s efficacy and safety did not warrant withdrawing the drug from the market. Using orlistat for weight-loss While OTC orlistat may soon be widely accessible in drug stores, it is not for people who have problems absorbing food or for those who are not overweight. The 60 mg capsule can be taken up to three times a day with meals containing fat. But, because of the possible loss of certain nutrients, it is recommended that people using orlistat should also take a multivitamin at bedtime. Altered bowel habits, which may include loose stools, are the most common side effect of the product. However, consuming a low fat diet mitigates the likelihood of this side effect. And, people who have had an organ transplant should not take OTC orlistat because of possible drug interactions. The FDA added that it would continue to monitor the safety of orlistat while the drug is on the market. Clock Dials! Antique Clock Dials And How To Restore Them Today!

By Sarah Stewart The dial of a clock is usually the first thing to get dirty or discoloured, especially if winding is done by opening a door in the front. A marked improvement can be effected by fixing a new dial made in the manner to be described. First take off the minute hand. Sometimes this is only sprung on and will come away by merely pulling at the centre, but generally it is secured by a, small pin which is easily withdrawn. The removal of the hour-hand will then present no difficulty. The dial will most likely be fixed by screws to the case, or to the frame of the movement, and by unscrewing these it is detached. Place all the screws, the hands etc, in a box or tray for safety while making the new dial. You’ll need a sheet of fairly stout, smooth-surfaced Bristol board, (A smooth, heavy pasteboard of fine quality); a bottle of waterproof Indian ink ; an ordinary and an ink compass ; a pair of dividers and a ruling pen. Having pinned the white card to a drawing-board to prevent it shifting, measure carefully with the dividers the diameter of the outer circle of the dial, and with the compass make a similar circle on the card ; next measure the inner circle, on which the graduations are to be inscribed, and transfer this also to the copy. The divisions may now be proceeded with. Rule lightly a vertical line across the diameter of the circle ; this will indicate the six o’clock and twelve o’clock graduations. A second line, also through the centre of the circle, at right angles to the first, divides the dial into four quarters. With the dividers, each quarter is then sub-divided into three equal portions, for the five-minute graduations, and each of the latter into five parts. The dial will then contain sixty divisions. Now measure the respective distances of the top and bottom of the hour figures from the centre of the dial, and with these distances as radii describe two more circles, thus obtaining guide-lines in which to write the figures. With the old dial as a copy, the hours may then be pencilled in, noticing that all the upright strokes radiate from the centre, while the short lines at the top or bottom of each figure are portions of the guide circles. Note that diametrically opposite figures are upside-down as regards each other, and that the ” four ” is drawn thin. IIII, and not IV. When the whole is neatly inscribed in pencil, the inking over may begin. The two outer circles are first done with the ink compass, then the divisions with the ruling pen, noting that each of these radiates from the centre. Every quarter-hour mark, however, is made thicker and wedge-shaped, while the intermediate five minutes are indicated by dots. The figures are next carefully inked in, first the radiating upright lines, then any cross strokes, and finally the curved lines at top and bottom, doing the latter with the ink compass. The thick strokes may conveniently made by ruling two thin lines the correct distance apart and filling in the middle space with a fine brush. Care must be taken that one part is dry before attempting another. When all is dry, the pencil marks are removed with a rubber, and the size of the dial is ascertained by laying the old one on top of it, marking at the same time the places where holes are required for the hands and winding key. These are cut out with the point of a sharp penknife, an inked circle having first been drawn round them for ornament. If all has been neatly done, the new dial will be quite undistinguishable from enamelled one, the pure white, smooth surface of the Bristol board having just the right appearance. To fix the dial, the order adopted in removing the old one is reversed - that is to say, the dial is first screwed to the case, the hour-hand next placed in position, then the washer, and lastly minute hand, not forgetting the pin, if one is used. Felting, Fulling, Or Boiled Wool?

By Maddy Cranley To ignore one of the basic knitting commandments, “Thou shalt not put wool into hot water” is to risk suffering the dreaded consequence of such action - very small, very stiff, little sweaters into which no family member would ever want to grow. But approaching the hot water as friend not foe, affords an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful new perspective on rows of knit and purl stitches. As a distinct change of texture and appearance results from the felting process, simple stocking stitch knitting can be magically transformed all without knowledge of complicated knitting technique. Felt is a warm, windproof fabric that despite its matted texture remains remarkably lightweight and soft to the touch. To produce a felt fabric, the basic raw material is always the same but the production method can vary. The raw material that is common to all methods is a protein fiber derived from an animal source, most often wool. Other protein fibers such as mohair, angora, alpaca, and some furs can also be successfully felted. Why only animal fibers? It is because these fibers have a unique surface structure which consists of overlapping scales. These scales in reaction to being plunged into hot water, open up and latch on to each other creating new formations. This interlocking process is further aided by rubbing the scales together through some form of agitation such as kneading by hand or the action of a washing machine. Further scale mixing is achieved by making the scales slippery with the aid of a sudsy, soapy solution. Once these scales have found their new positions on the surface of the fabric, there is no going back. These newly-positioned scales remain locked together in their latest relationships and the happy result is felt. “Felting” is the term most often used to define the transformation of a protein fiber into this warm and wonderful fabric. In the strictest sense, felting describes the procedure of taking batts of wool fleece (raw wool that has not yet been spun into yarn), adding hot, soapy water and kneading the wool batt until the fiber scales interlock. The word “filz” is found in Old High German. This language was in use prior to the 12th century, an indication that when felting today we are continuing to explore a very ancient craft. “Fulling” is the process of producing felt fabric from animal fiber yarn that has already been woven or knitted. Fulling takes the woven or knitted fabric through the process of hot water and agitation in order to facilitate shrinkage and create felted fabric. In the Middle Ages, “fullers” were textile workers who used Fuller’s Earth, a highly adsorptive clay that removed grease and oils from the woven cloth. The agitation of the cleansing action would shrink and matt the fibers creating a fabric that would not unravel. The term fulling stems from “fullare”, a Medieval Latin word meaning “to walk on or trample”. This process emphasizes the agitation that is required in coaxing those fiber scales to intertwine. Today, it is more common to see Fuller’s Earth used as an ingredient in a cosmetic face mask, where it sets its shrinking powers to other tasks. “Boiled wool” is another descriptive term for felted cloth. It is the characteristic fabric produced in Austria and used to fashion chic Tyrolean jackets embellished with braid binding and pewter buttons. Again, the basic raw material is wool yarn. The process is the same as fulling but completed on an industrial level in order to facilitate the handling of larger quantities. Computerized controls finely tune water temperature levels and agitation strength in order to produce a consistent result. The yarn is first dyed, then knit and shrunk without the aid of chemicals. This process produces felt fabric available by the yard, ready for cutting into pattern pieces to be assembled into garments. Allow yourself time to experiment with the felting process and how the knitted yarn reacts. Knit test samples of stocking stitch in a pure wool yarn. One caution must be observed. Do not use a wool yarn that has been processed as a superwash yarn, in other words a yarn that can be machine-washed without fear of shrinkage. Since it is shrinkage that is the goal in felting, these yarns are not suitable for felting projects. Knit a number of samples, perhaps in different yarn weights and colors, while making note of the knitted measurements of each. Place these samples in the hot water cycle of the washing machine, removing after the rinse and spin dry cycles. Square up the edges of the samples and allow to dry flat. Measure the samples again and compare to the original measurements. If felting has taken place, it is not only indicated by the change of measurements but in the texture of the fabric. Holding up the felted fabric sample to a strong light, one should barely be able to distinguish the grid of stitches and rows. The felted sample should be very matted and if you cut the knitting, it will not unravel. Notice that the knitting remains soft and lightweight, not stiff and harsh. If you have moved on to transforming your hand knitting into a felted garment, you may think that is has gone through the most vigorous and tortured wash that knitted yarn could ever endure. Now and forever more, you assume that you can throw that felted garment into the hot wash cycle. Treat your felted garment with “wool rules”. Hand wash using a mild soap or wool detergent in lukewarm water and do not rub or leave to soak as further felting may occur. After thorough rinsing, dry flat. Felted handknitting can always be improved with brushing and even a light pressing with a warm iron to produce a smoother surface appearance. If you are storing felted garments for an extended length of time, be sure to tuck a moth repellent inside the garment. These are the basic guidelines to start you down the felted path. If you take the plunge and experiment with different yarn weights, brands and colors, you will increase your knowledge of what really happens when a particular yarn meets hot water. After all, the knitting is easy and the results can be spectacular. Maddy Cranley 2007. Beliefs That Harm Your Relationship (1)

By Elaine Sihera We tend to have a rosy vision of love coupled with unrealistic expectations of the relationship which it creates. Some of us believe that love is enough to see us through the bad times and that, if people love us, theyll do anything to make us happy. Others subscribe to the notion that as long as they do their little bit in the partnership, everything will be fine. Finally, everyone likes to believe that their partners will change to suit them. But, boy, are we all in for a surprise? Taking each of these beliefs in turn, love is certainly not enough on any level. It isnt enough to hold two people together, because they need to be able to communicate with, and understand, each other and also solve problems together. The very next day after their honeymoon, they will have to find out how to share the same house, the same room, the same bed, the same money and the same ideals. In addition, they now have new friends and relatives to contend with. Its no longer the carefree dating scene the two parties enjoyed before their wedding. They dont go to their respective homes at the end of the day, or at the weekends. They are at home together, for keeps. There is no escaping that fact if they are truly committed to the relationship. Those charming characteristics they like about their partners, and the irritating ones they loathe, are now with them all the time. There will even be times when they forget that they love their partner! But, thats the situation any new relationship creates and its success depends on how it is dealt with. The Need to Adapt and Change Closeness with someone else might bring intimacy, but it also brings the need to adapt and change. However, we can tolerate only so much change without being affected or feeling resentful, especially when we are happy with ourselves and enjoy doing our own thing. Getting married or going into a relationship is thus a major change in our life. The rules of behaviour are different and, unlike being at home with parents, we can no longer insulate ourselves from any ensuing problems. However, we can prevent their damage by creating safer, more uplifting environments because we are now in charge of our life. The next fallacy is that if someone loves you they should fulfil everything you desire. Such a statement not only makes your love conditional upon the other person doing what you ask as proof of their love, but it is always a warning sign for the dynamics of the partnership as it does say a lot about the person making it. What you are actually saying is, I dont trust your love, so you need to prove it to me in tangible ways, or Your feelings, wants and needs do not count. Mine have priority. It reflects an unreasonable expectation usually motivated by a lack of care for the partner or, more likely, a lack of self-esteem. It is not unreasonable to have expectations of your partner, but what they are and how you voice them are very important. Unfulfilled expectations are the biggest killers in relationships. Inclusive statements which refer to both parties are the best. For example, something like If our love is to remain strong, we have to learn to respect each others viewpoint. This statement shows that you are actually owning your share of the relationship. You are not just focusing on the other persons behaviour. The we word is used far more than me, myself and I. In this way couples create the opportunity to learn and grow. Mutual expectations and boundaries, which are consistent with shared values and beliefs, are essential to a healthy relationship.
